This indeed was the raison d’ĂȘtre for formation of the Astana format, which has promoted a peaceful settlement of the crisis, including through supporting the establishment of the Constitutional Committee. To that end, regular and close consultations by our Special Envoy on Syria with Mr. Pedersen, United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, have continued. Reference: S/2021/463 Identical letters dated 12 May 2021 from the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council  I write with great urgency regarding the latest acts of terror against Israel perpetrated by Palestinian terrorist groups, first and foremost Hamas, over the past two days.  Since Monday morning, 10 May 2021, over 1,500 rockets have been launched by Palestinian terror groups from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli civilian communities and major metropolitan areas throughout the country, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashkelon and Ashdod. Implementation of resolution 2522 (2020)  Report of the Secretary-General "23. The Ministry of National Defence of Turkey reported continued operatio ns against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in northern Iraq. On 10, the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey issued a statement that “Operation Claw-Eagle 2” had been conducted in the Garah Mountain area of Dahuk Governorate. The Ministry stated that the operation was consistent with the “right of self-defence arising from international law” of Turkey. In a speech on 11 February, the Minister of National Defence of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, stressed respect for “Iraq’s territorial integrity and political unity”. On 14 February, Mr. Akar announced the conclusion of the operation.
